The “Elizabethan Sea Dog” series of nautical fiction novels awaits your reading pleasure!

Cry ‘Havoc,’ and let slips the dogs of war” ~ W. Shakespeare

VOYAGE OF REPRISAL is the first book in the “Elizabethan Sea Dogs” series of action & adventure / nautical fiction novels. The books are set in the 16th Century during the early age of sail. Elizabethan seafarers battle Spanish galleons for control of New World trade routes. Meanwhile, King Philip II of Spain builds a mighty Armada to invade England and overthrow the upstart Queen Elizabeth I. The books transport readers to the counterreformation and renaissance periods, when England and Spain vied for dominance abroad and the souls of their people back home. The novels contain exquisite details about life and death aboard sailing warships. They realistically depict the hijinks of pirates and privateers on the high seas. English sea dogs pursue wealth, fame, and vengeance while fighting their sovereign’s proxy wars. Spanish military leaders struggle to protect their far-flung maritime possessions from foreign interlopers. These are swashbuckling tales filled with high drama and pathos. I trust you will enjoy them.

VOYAGE OF REPRISAL follows the adventures of Captain Richard Hawthorne and his intrepid crew who set out from London in 1585 aboard an English galleon, the Elanor Rose to plunder a Spanish treasure fleet off Florida. As they sail toward uncharted seas they face hostile elements, internal discord, and the guns of Spanish warships lurking in their path. If they prevail, rewards and retribution await in the wilds of the New World.

LIGHT THE FIRE BEACONS: A NOVEL OF THE SPANISH ARMADA (to be published soon) is the third book in the series. It is a stand-alone novel that dramatizes the 1588 Battle of the Spanish Armada from the viewpoints of the English and Spanish opponents. The story takes readers through the multi-day running sea battle off the coast of England and follows its tragic aftermath in the North Atlantic. Some characters from the previous two books (such as Robert Lawton) will appear in fictional subplots but the overall narrative features historic characters (such as Queen Elizabeth I, Lord Charles Howard and Sir Francis Drake), as well as famous Spanish officers from the opposing side. The overall story remains faithful to history and is very detailed. Lively action and dramatic events unfold in a novelized format, bringing the famous sea battle to life. The stakes are high – England’s independence and the future of the Spanish empire hang in the balance.
